FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Monday, September 20, through Thursday, September 23
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 28 North, stay to the left to Braddock Road/Walney Road, turn left at the traffic signal onto Braddock Road West, follow signs to turn left to the ramp to I-66 West, then take I-66 West to Route 29 Centreville. (Note: This closure will not occur on night(s) when the detour route is not available due to other closures.)

Wednesday, September 22, and Thursday, September 23
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Wednesday, September 22, through Saturday, September 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights, and from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, travel south to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.

Tuesday, September 21, Friday, September 24, and Saturday, September 25
Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West and travel west to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.

Friday night, September 24, and Saturday night, September 25
Ramps from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic from both directions will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 28 South, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Monday night, September 20, through Wednesday night, September 22
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for paving work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West. (Note: This closure will not occur on night(s) when the detour route is not available due to other closures.)

Monday night, September 20, and Thursday night, September 23 (Friday night, September 24, will be used as backup should inclement weather occur.)
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East. 

Monday, September 20, and Thursday, September 23 (Friday, September 24, will be used as backup should inclement weather occur.)
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. (Note: This closure will not occur on night(s) when the detour route is not available due to other closures.) 

Monday, September 20, through Thursday, September 23
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for ramp work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.

Monday night, September 20, through Sunday night, September 26
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights; midnight to 4 a.m. Thursday night; 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday night for ramp work. Traffic will be directed to exit prior to the closure to Route 50 East, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West.

Friday, September 24, and Saturday, September 25
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the left and turn left at the next traffic signal to I-66 West, then exit to Route 50 West or Route 50 East.

Tuesday night, September 21, through Friday night, September 24
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street North/South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for bridge beam installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, and then take the exit to Nutley Street North or South.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
