JAMESTOWN-SCOTLAND FERRY TO OPERATE AT REDUCED CAPACITY OCT. 12

SURRY – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises Jamestown-Scotland Ferry motorists to expect potential travel delays on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this time, ferry operations will run at reduced capacity with only the Surry and Williamsburg ferries in service.

Both vessels will continue to ferry motorists across the James River using the fall/winter/spring travel schedule

Motorists may experience temporary delays and are encouraged to view the traffic queues approximately 0.5 miles from the boarding locations in real-time on the VDOT 511 cameras.

The ferry is free and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For updates on ferry service, motorists can call the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY.

Motorists are encouraged to visit www.511virginia.org, call 511, or download the free Virginia 511 mobile app for current traffic and travel information.
