Project Background

This proposed project would install two lanes for eastbound Route 620 (Harrison Road) traffic traveling straight through the Route 639 (Salem Church Road) intersection in Spotsylvania County. East of the Salem Church Road intersection, Harrison Road would be slightly widened to accommodate two travel lanes to receive through traffic.

The existing traffic signal equipment at the intersection would be replaced.

East of the Salem Church Road intersection, sidewalk would be added along the south side of Harrison Road where it does not currently exist.

Pedestrian crosswalks and pedestrian crossing signal equipment would be added at each intersection approach.

A 10-foot-wide shared use path would be built along the north side of Harrison Road west of the intersection. A 10-foot-wide shared use path would be added along southbound Salem Church Road, along the west side of the road, between the former trailhead to the Virginia Central Railway Trail and Harrison Road.

The project would be advertised to potential bidders for construction in February 2027.
