GORDON ROAD PARK AND RIDE COMMUTER LOT RESURFACING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 18 IN SPOTSYLVANIA
The lot will remain open while work is underway; Schedule updates posted to virginiadot.org/FredParkandRideResurfacing

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Resurfacing will begin on Monday, Sept. 18, at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Park and Ride commuter lot at Gordon Road in Spotsylvania County.

Due to the size of the Gordon Road Park and Ride lot, resurfacing work will be accomplished in sections. The lot will always remain open for parking with a reduced number of spaces. Click here to view the map of the lot sections.

On Monday, crews will close sections B, C, and D to begin resurfacing, then once complete these sections will reopen for parking, and lot A will close for resurfacing.

This work is part of a $2.9 million maintenance project underway to resurface five Park and Ride lots in the Fredericksburg region and provide a smoother travel surface with fresh lane markings.

Resurfacing was finished this week in the Carmel Church lot in Caroline County and the lot is now open.

Work continues in the Old Salem Church Road lot in Spotsylvania and the Mine Road lot in Stafford County. These lots remain closed.

Later this fall, crews will resurface the Falmouth (Route 17) lot in Stafford. Dates will be announced for this location once they are scheduled.

Message boards are being posted in the affected lots to notify users ahead of time. Updated schedule information will also be posted online on the project page.

Alternate commuter parking locations can be found using VDOT's interactive Park and Ride location map.

The project contractor is Superior Paving.

Additional Park and Ride Improvements

A $350,000 project for concrete repairs is also underway at spot locations in Fredericksburg area Park and Ride lots. Crews are repairing damaged curbs and sidewalk panels. All ramps will be made accessible.

Planning efforts are also underway to identify and replace bus shelters and bicycle racks as needed in area Park and Ride lots.
