FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Overnight travelers should be aware of lane closures and an exit ramp closure on Interstate 95 southbound this week in Stafford County as construction continues as part of the Improve 95 program.

Starting at 9 p.m. tonight, May 18, a single lane will close on I-95 southbound between exit 133 (Route 17) and exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) followed by double lane closures at 10 p.m. for work with the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.

Crews will close the I-95 southbound off-ramp at exit 133 at midnight until 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 20 as work advances on the future bridge over Route 17.

Southbound travelers seeking Route 17 should use exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) or the most convenient alternate route.

Drivers should anticipate overnight delays with I-95 southbound reduced to a single lane until 5 a.m. tomorrow and Thursday.

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.
