BARRICK’S MILL ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT BEGINS JUNE 14, MIDDLESEX COUNTY
Road will be closed at Mill Creek for about 14 weeks. Drivers should follow posted detour

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – On Monday, June 14, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a portion of Route 625 (Barrick’s Mill Road) in Middlesex County for approximately 14 weeks.

The project will replace the existing structurally deficient, timber deck bridge with a new 40-foot concrete slab structure on concrete abutments and concrete piles.

The existing structure, built in 1971, is an average of 22-feet long.

During construction a portion of Barrick’s Mill Road at Barrick’s Pond will be closed to through traffic. During the closure drivers will be detoured approximately 3 miles using the following routes:

  • Route 625 (Barrick’s Pond Road)
  • Route 626 (Wake Road)
  • Route 624 (Regent Road)

The road will be closed to through traffic at the work site 24 hours a day. Construction activity will be underway from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Crews may work during the same hours on Friday and Saturday, if needed.

According to a recent VDOT traffic count, approximately 413 vehicles use this portion of Barrick’s Mill Road daily.
