CULPEPER — Major highways across the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Culpeper District are clear of snow but those venturing out early Thursday morning may encounter slick conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, ramps and crossovers.

Interstate 64 in Albemarle and Louisa County and I-66 in Fauquier County are both clear, as are primary highways in Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Louisa, Orange and Rappahannock counties. Primaries in Albemarle, Greene and Madison are mostly clear but drivers may encounter patches of ice. Secondary roads are passable but many still have patches of ice and frozen snow on the roadway.

VDOT crews will continue working on Thursday to address those icy conditions and clean up any roads that were not completely plowed on Wednesday.

Motorists are encouraged to delay travel until temperatures rise above freezing Thursday morning. Drivers who must travel early Thursday may encounter patches of ice on the road surface and should plan extra travel time and drive for the conditions by reducing speed.
